Venues

One of the venues you will visit while in Peru is Machu Picchu. When I visited Machu Picchu, a minibus picked me up in front of my magnificent hotel and drove me to the Cusco train station. The train station was very busy with lots of excited people waiting to travel to Machu Picchu.

I met the conductor when I first stepped onto the train he told me that Machu Picchu was a four hour train ride from Cusco. It took 15 minutes to get to the train from Unaytambo Boutique Hotel which meant that it took 4 hours and 15 minutes from Unaytambo Boutique Hotel to get to the towering mountain. Its hours of operation are from 6am to 5pm each day.

Machu Picchu is an extremely historical and beautiful place. It is known as one of the Wonders of the World. Many people call visiting it a lifetime experience. As I left the train I saw the breathtaking view of the mountain. It was covered in tall trees and colourful wild flowers. I then saw some steps, which seem to twist higher and higher up the mountain.

It was a challenge to keep up with my tour guide because of the large swarm of people. When I finally reached the top of Machu Picchu there was an eye catching and unforgettable view of the exhilarating, thrilling and spectacular lost Inca city. One of the first things I saw were non roofed houses made of stone. My tour guide said there were no roofs because the buildings were so ancient that they had worn away over time. As I walked along with my splendid tour guide I saw an astonishing and fluffy lama. The lama was on one of the wide man made steps carved out of the land. My most treasured moment was learning about the history of this magical and educational wonder of the world. Machu Picchu is a special place that helps scientists and people from all over the world discover how people lived long ago. Now this was a truly memorable day.

The Machu Picchu tour package cost $1422 NZD, which is really reasonable when you think it includes the minibus from the hotel, the train ride and the guided tour at Machu Picchu. The per person cost is $355.50 NZD (remember this is for a middle class family of four.)
I hope this has been a great experience for you and that you enjoyed my venues page and blog. Hasta la vista.
